Refocusing my security study.

I narrowed my focus to two things: TryHackMe as my main curriculum and Wazuh as the lab where I could apply what I learned. Subscribing to a structured path gave me two months of guided cybersecurity work, but the larger decision was to stop treating every interesting resource as a new direction.

A curriculum gives the work an order

Security is wide enough that it is easy to confuse exposure with progress. A structured path helps me build fundamentals in sequence—networking, operating systems, the web, defensive security, and then more specialized work. I still explore outside the curriculum, but I now have a clear route back.

The lab turns recognition into evidence

Reading about an alert is different from producing one, locating the event, and explaining why it matters. Wazuh gives me a place to test that difference. After learning a concept, I can create a controlled event, observe the telemetry, and write down what I would check next.

The real goal

I do not want to finish rooms just to count them. I want to retrieve the idea from memory, use it in a system, notice where my model breaks, and explain the correction clearly. That makes the note, lab, or case study evidence of understanding instead of evidence that I watched a lesson.
